Dr Naveed Akhtar is a principal GP at Chigwell Medical Centre, Chigwell with Special Interests in Minor Surgery, Musculoskeletal medicine is also an NLP Trainer, a Hypnotherapist, a medical Acupuncturist, and a minor surgical and cosmetic skills instructor.
Dr Akhtar qualified from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Medical School in 2003. He completed his surgical training at Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore and Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow achieving Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) in 2007. He then underwent GP vocational training in Colchester and became a principal GP in Colchester in 2009 until he moved to Chigwell Medical Centre in 2012.
Dr Akhtar is also a Chigwell Parish Councillor.
Dr Akhtar joined the West Essex Clinical Commissioning Group in August 2013, initially as Clinical Lead for Long Term Conditions then as Lead for Primary Care Development. He has a passion for technology and how technology can be used to improve the quality of patient’s lives and his current role in West Essex is Clinical Lead for IM&T.
Together with Dr Toh Wong, they created Neurolinguistic Healthcare which trains consultation skills and therapeutic techniques effectively and easily, mainly aimed at the healthcare professions. He is one of the main Convention Organisers for the Integrative Health Convention in London.
Dr Akhtar has also been recruited to the Council of the College of Medicine and Integrated Health, forging the way ahead in Integrated Health.
